Greg’s passion for welding began when he was a teenager. He took welding courses in high school and then went on to complete an associate’s degree at the Pennsylvania School of Technology. Over the years, Greg has worked in many different environments to improve his mastery of the craft. He has worked as a pipefitter, in manufacturing, in the field as a boiler maker and on structural work and in fabrication shops and even a stint as a welding instructor for BOCES adult education. He most recently received his certification from NYS DOT for structural welding.
Greg and Freedom met in 2011 on a blind date with Greg sharing his hope to one day own his own business. Greg moved to NY in 2012, and he and Freedom got married. Once friends and neighbors found out about Greg’s talent, they brought occasional and then more frequent fabrication and welding repairs for him to craft. This led to the creation of Morehart’s Weld Repair & Custom Fabrication as a licensed and insured business with Freedom at the helm as the owner. Freedom takes care of the underlying functions of business ownership and acts as a helper on occasion!
Greg and Freedom spent the first couple of years building the business by purchasing much needed upgrades to equipment and even a mobile welder generator so that work could be done on site. While they both continue to work full-time outside of the home business, they hope someday for this to be a full-time venture.
